Searching in the Quad is simple! Let’s walk through how you can optimize your search results and find what you are looking for, even faster.
First things first, SIGN IN to view all content. If you ever can't find something, check to ensure you are signed in.
The Search bar is always up top on each page in the Quad.
You can also always find the magnifying glass icon right up top in the navigation menu for an additional search bar.
Search results will include content from Discussions, Articles, Places, and Events. You can also search for members of the Quad.
Filtering
Your results will default to include All, but you can filter based on content type to narrow down your results. Let’s cover what each filter includes, and the additional filtering options:
All
All includes Community Discussions, Knowledge Base articles, Events, and Places (Groups, Categories, and Knowledge Bases).

Discussions
You can filter discussion content by:
- Title
- Author
- Date Updated
- Category
- Tags
- Discussion-type (discussions, questions, polls, ideas)
Articles
You can filter Knowledge Base articles by:
- Title
- Author
- Date Updated
- Knowledge Base
Places
Places includes Categories, Knowledge Bases, and Groups.
You can filter this content by:
- Title
- Description
- Type (Categories, Knowledge Bases, Groups)
Events
You can filter this content by:
Search term bolding
The words you search for will be bolded in the text of the results so you can better understand why a specific result matches your query.
Exact-text matching
Improve your search results with exact-text matching and boolean operators:
- To find an exact word or phrase, use quotation marks (e.g., "release notes").
- To exclude a term from your search, use the - symbol (e.g., "release"-"notes").
- To find content with multiple queries, use the + symbol, (e.g., "release"+"2022"+"api").
Search sorting
Each search type (All, Discussions, Articles, Places, Events, and Members) includes search-sorting options:

- Top (i.e., posts with the most positive reaction score)
- Hot (i.e., trending posts with the most comments + positive reaction score)
Articles
- Most Helpful (i.e., articles with the most helpful votes)
